The Awards judges

Posted on

The awards are judged by 2 independent panels, advised by specialists in the addiction-recovery field. One panel is chosen by Nacoa, the National Association for Children of Alcoholics, and the other by DB Recovery Resources/Recovery Plus.

The judging is a rigorous process – although applications will be made as simple as possible – including a judging meeting where entries are discussed and evaluated in detail to decide the winning entries, then validated with experts in the field.

We pride ourselves on our rigorous and objective judging process where only the best of the best will be rewarded.

The R+Nacoa Recovery Awards judges are independent industry leaders with some experience of addiction and recovery, supported by experts in the addiction-recovery field. For example, one judge is a deputy lieutenant of London with an interest in mental health and wellbeing in the City, another is an ex-merchant banker turned successful business coach,  another is a high-flying  creative art director who suffered depression and self-medicated with alcohol for a few years but regained his health and wellbeing, another worked at the Home Office, another specialises in mindfulness and neurolinguistic programming and another is both a professional in achieving addiction recovery and is in long-term personal recovery.

The judging panel considers all Recovery Award applications and will meet in June to discuss and finalise shortlists of applications.

The panel consists of

Deirdre Boyd

Mei Sim Lei OBE, DL

Rich Waterman

Mary Serena Somerville
